Fun and games at St Josephs School

St Josephs School Barking

The children at St Josephs School haven’t been able to use their playground and climbing frame for two years as it wasn’t in a good condition or a safe place to play.

Aston Group were initially asked by the School in Barking to replace just the soft play area under the climbing frames approximately 60m². We managed to get a great price for them so they decided to have the entire playground, all 220m², resurfaced.

A marathon effort for Saint Francis Hospice

Ian Cassidy runs the London Marathon for Saint Francis HospicePounding the streets of London for 26.2 miles is a gruelling test of endurance and stamina by anyone’s standard.

But the thrill of a personal challenge and the chance to raise funds for Saint Francis Hospice has inspired Ian Cassidy and Kate Hearn to sign up to the Virgin Money London Marathon on April 24th 2016.

Easter Egg giveaway

The AstonsJuliet at Longfield House, Waltham Forest team donated a bundle of Easter Eggs and hot cross buns to Longfield House in Waltham Forest for delivery to the residents in the sheltered blocks.

 

Juliet from Waltham Forest Council (pictured) happily received them but couldn’t fit all of them on her desk for the photo opportunity!

Juliet thanked everyone involved for their kind gesture.

Rewarding our apprentices

Edwin Evers correctedWe nominated one of our apprentices, Edwin Evers (pictured in the white shirt), for the Training Trust Apprentice of the Year. We’re extremely proud to say that he was shortlisted for the final and he attended the awards ceremony last month, receiving recognition for his efforts. He’s is a great example of how Astons wants to work with apprenticeships in our industry.

Aston Group announces loss of longest serving employee

DSC04161_BWThe Aston Group has announced the death in service of one of its longest-serving and most widely respected employees, Tom Skurr.

Tom, who joined The Aston Group in the early 1970s and worked for the business for more than 40 years, was originally employed as a central heating fitter and plumber, earning praise from customers and colleagues alike for the quality and tidiness of his work and the kindness of his manner.

Magnificent match funding in Essex

NGS Garden Opening 2015 134

Mike Thomas, Chairman of Aston Group, and his wife Liz, opened their garden for the first time in aid of the The National Garden Scheme (NGS) who raise funds for MacMillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie Cancer Care, The Queen’s Nursing Institute and Hospice UK and several other community charities.
