Aston Group employees organised a handyman day on Friday 27 May 2016. The team offered the elderly and vulnerable residents of St Patricks Court the opportunity to get jobs/small tasks that they were unable to carry out themselves undertaken by Aston Group employees.
Our team consisted of Ed, one of our builders, Vicki and three apprentices, Tyler, Josh and Harry.
During the day Ed undertook painting of a hallway and bedroom ceiling along with making good around a ceiling rose following a flood from the flat above. Feedback received from the resident “Clean & tidy work, done a very good job their attention to detail excellent. Well done Aston Group, a company that wants to give something to the community. Hats off. Thank you”.
Another resident said “I like to thank the Aston team for the help they provided for me. I had not been able to put up the blinds and paint my ceiling for a long time. Thank you”
Josh and Harry were tasked with putting up two pictures in the communal lobby and hanging a new pair of curtains within one of the elderly residents’ properties. Resident feedback, “Very nice polite men they done the work very quickly. Very pleased”. Another resident commented “Much appreciated for all work undertaken by everyone. So pleasant and nothing was too much trouble that was asked of them.”
Tyler assisted Ed with his painting tasks and also helped to install roller blinds within two properties and put up a new lampshade. The resident was pleased with the work undertaken and informed our resident liaison officer that they were “Nice boys. Well mannered, helpful. Cleaned up after themselves 10/10”.
Vicki and Josh undertook window cleaning and hanging of net curtains for another of the blocks elderly residents. The resident was “Very satisfied with all my work completed and everyone involved. Many thanks”.
A number of residents came down to the community meeting room for a chat and a complimentary cup of tea/coffee and a slice of cake on our coffee break.
On the whole, I think it’s safe to say the day went very well. The residents were very pleased with the work undertaken and even asked if we would be holding the handyman day again.
